Everyone knows how important it is to drink plenty of water. But few people actually drink the recommended amount of water each day. Why is that? Well, most people would probably tell you that they just don’t like the taste of water and they’d prefer to drink something else.

What Not to Drink

Unfortunately, many times those people are drinking sweet tea and soda instead of water. The caffeine in these drinks is actually causing the body to be more dehydrated. Drinking one can of soda means that you need to drink a glass of water to make up for it, but that water doesn’t really count towards your daily amount. People who want to take care of their bodies should look for fun twists on water so they can enjoy a cool, refreshing drink without the caffeine and sugar in soda and iced tea.

Water with a Twist

Plain water might not be that interesting to drink, but that doesn’t mean you need to reach for super sugary drinks either. It doesn’t take much to turn plain water into a nice little treat.

  • Sliced citrus fruits like oranges, limes, and lemons add a lot of flavor when they are dropped into a pitcher of water.
  • Green apple slices brushed with a little lemon juice would also be a fun twist.
  • You could also mix several fruits together like watermelon and pineapple for a fresh new taste.
  • Herbs like mint and rosemary can add a little flavor to a glass of water as well. In order to get the best flavor out of your fun twists on water, you should allow 24 hours for the water to rest in the fridge after adding anything for flavoring.

Spa Water Recipe

If you’re looking for a really luxurious twist on water or you don’t want to play around with different fruit and herb combinations, you might want to try a spa water recipe.

  • Slice an orange, a lemon, a lime, and half a grapefruit. Add the fruit to a pitcher of ice water with a cup of fresh mint leaves. You could also try Rosemary Cucumber water with ten cucumber slices and a branch of fresh rosemary.

What About Store Bought Flavored Water?

It is probably best that you make your own flavored water with the recipes that we have mentioned here. Purchasing flavored water from the store might sound like a good idea, but many times these drinks are full of sugar and additives, because the fruit flavors don’t actually come from fruit. Not to mention that it’s much cheaper to do it yourself.

Don’t worry about drinking 8 glasses of boring, tasteless water every day when you can have one of the many fun twists on water. You’ll enjoy it so much, you’ll forget how healthy it is for you.
