The Word on Weightloss

Healthy Diet Plans

Many people want to know if there are healthy diet plans on the market that will help them quickly lose weight. The answer is no. Most of the fast diet plans that claim to be a quick way to lose weight are not healthy; they require you to severely restrict your caloric intake in order to shed the pounds.

You will see results in the beginning of these plans, but most of the weight you lose will be water. Even though they are not healthy, you may lose some fat and muscle if you stay on those diet plans long enough. As soon as you return to your regular diet, though, the weight you lost will return, along with a few extra pounds.

This occurs for several reasons:

- These self-proclaimed healthy diet plans, which are really fad diets, fail because they are too restrictive and people eventually quit before they see results.

- If you have always been overweight, do you really think you are going to be able to shed those excess pounds in just a few days following fad diets? People who lose weight in a short amount of time are exceptions, not the norm.

- People have different body types and metabolisms. Healthy diet plans that work for one person may not be a healthy way to lose weight for someone else. The best diet plans are those that have been customized for the individual so that he or she loses pounds in a sensible and healthy way.

It takes time, effort, and hard work to lose weight and to follow a healthy diet plan. You have to unlearn all of the bad eating habits you developed over the years. In addition to that, you need to instill discipline in yourself to resist unhealthy foods and make lifestyle changes that foster long-term results. Following healthy diet plans that allow you to lose weight slowly over time can be frustrating if you want to shed pounds quickly. However, this way of losing weight increases the likelihood that you will obtain permanent results.

Tips For Adopting a Healthier Lifestyle:

- Instead of eating three big meals a day, eat smaller meals more frequently. A good plan for a healthy diet would be to eat five to six small meals no more than three hours apart. Doing this will help you maintain a stable blood sugar level, preventing food binges and sugar cravings.

- You will want to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables to ensure you get the vitamins and minerals necessary for good health. If you need to, take a vitamin supplement to fill in the gaps.

- Sometimes a healthy diet plan involves more than just food consumption. You should also drink a lot of water every day. It is a known fact that most people are slightly dehydrated. Sometimes, when you think you are hungry, you are actually thirsty. When you feel hunger pangs, try drinking a glass of water instead.

- An active lifestyle is essential for maintaining your weight loss. Find opportunities to exercise. In addition to joining a gym or working out to home exercise tapes, take up hobbies that make you stay active, like gardening or bicycling.

Following healthy diet plans and getting a good amount of exercise is the best strategy for permanent weight loss.

Getting tired of eating the same foods? Try having some pistachios. Offering 30 vitamins and minerals, they only have 3 calories per nut (about half that of most nuts). Healthy, quick and easy snacking is only a pistachio away!
