The Word on Weightloss

High Protein Diet Plan

The high protein diet plan has been used by weight lifters for many years. The diet was used either for bulking up (building muscle) or cutting (losing excess body fat). Only recently has the high protein diet plan entered into the mainstream and gained media and public attention. High protein diet plans include the Atkins diet and the Zone diet – both of which are used to aid weight loss. Many people report success with the initial results of a high protein diet plan but fail to maintain their weight loss over time.

If you wish to find healthy weight loss programs that involve high protein consumption, you are in the right place. The high protein diet plan involves three main principles that will help you to quickly lose any excess weight. Let us take a look at these three main principles.

High Protein Diet Plan Principles

1. Divide up your meals

To make a reduced calorie consumption diet work for you, it is essential to trick your body into thinking that it is obtaining the same amount of calories that it has always been used to. You do this by consuming small meals on a regular basis. Aim to eat around six small meals a day. This way, you will always feel satisfied.

2. Avoid white carbohydrates

A high protein diet plan should incorporate large quantities of fruits and vegetables and foods that are high in protein. White carbohydrates should be avoided, as they are low in water and high in carbohydrates. Fruits and vegetables will provide you with your daily dosage of vitamins and minerals. They are high in water yet lack the high carbohydrate content.

3. Go half meat, half vegetables

Ensure that your plate is made up of half meat, half vegetables. This way, you will ensure that you are adhering to a high protein diet plan. The protein in your healthy weight loss program will protect the muscles from wasting away, yet help you to lose weight in the form of fat at the same time. If you are unable to afford the high cost of filling your plate with meat and vegetables, opt for beans and other foods high in protein instead.

4. Drink water

If you are adhering to a high protein diet plan, it is essential that you consume enough water to metabolize all the protein you are taking into your body. Aim to drink around eight to ten glasses of water per day. However, do space your water consumption throughout your day and never attempt to drink it all in one go.

Whether your chosen healthy weight loss programs center on the Zone diet or the Atkins diet, these tips will aid you in achieving your weight loss goal. When you are on a restricted calorie consumption diet, it is often difficult to stay on the right track. However, with the right advice, support and personal mindset, it is easy to make the most of a high protein diet plan in aiding your weight loss goals.
