The Word on Weightloss

Which Diet Is Right for You?

Conducting an online search on the words diet or quick weight loss will bring up a ridiculously high number of results. This may be quite confusing for an individual who wants a quick weight loss diet plan. What’s more, there are many low calorie options, each of which promises to work. To help dieters through the process of selecting the most popular diets, WebMD, the Magazine, came up with a list of the seven most popular diets of all time.

The first is the Atkins diet-The basic idea behind this low calorie diet is to reduce the amount of carbohydrates you consume. The idea is that then your body will be forced to use up its stored fat. At the same time, you increase your protein intake so that you feel full more quickly when eating. The drawback, according to experts, of this quick weight loss diet is that it does not provide one with a balanced diet, making it unsustainable, especially over the long-term.

The South Beach Diet—is another extremely popular diet. This diet, just like the Atkins diet, advocates for more proteins and less carbohydrates as a quick weight loss diet solution, but more emphasis is placed on eating healthy proteins such as legumes and animal proteins. It is a bit more sustainable than the Atkins diet as you have more choices and are encouraged to eat healthier and maintain a healthy lifestyle. You can read South Beach Diet reviews here.

Next is Volumetrics-It works by filling you up! The gist is that you are eating foods that have really low calories and really high water and fiber content, like some fruits and vegetables, greens and soups. This method might not work for everyone, especially individuals who don’t care for fruits and veggies or who don’t find them very satisfying, leaving them hungry and craving, sometimes leading to binge snacking.

Weight Watchers—is one of the most popular and successful programs. Its basis is living a healthy lifestyle in order to lose weight as a long-term plan. There are no food restrictions as long as one ensures that they do not go over the required calories intake for each day. Group support forms the basis of this diet plan as it helps to keep individuals motivated. The diet is easy to stick to and you have tons of choices, even when eating out. The group support is invaluable and the only downside is that you have to be really committed, which is the crux of any weight loss program. Weight Watchers has an online diet plan, but the one that works best involves weekly meetings.

The Sonoma Diet- consists of Mediterranean foods, which largely consists of lots of fruits and vegetables, nuts, whole grains and olive oil. This choice of foods is low in fats and carbs, plus it reduces the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Low calories are inherent in the diet and the suggested foods are fresh and enjoyable to eat. Many people find this an easy diet to stick to due to the variety and flavors of the menu options.

The Jenny Craig Diet- provides a dieter with ready-made meals for every meal, every day of the week. It is based on the government food guide (or new pyramid) which stipulates the required amounts of each food group to eat. By following the plan, most of you will be able to lose weight, especially if combined with exercise. It is important to note that the foods included in the plan are quite pricey and will see you spend upwards of $125 a week on food and since the meals are provided for you, you may not learn how to live a healthy lifestyle when shopping on your own.

Eat More Weigh Less-is a diet plan by Cardiologist Dean Ornish, MD. The diet restricts one from eating sugars and limits the amount of meats consumed to reduce caloric intake. The diet is based on eating whole foods and fruits and vegetables, while ingesting low calories.

The things to avoid when selecting a diet plan include avoiding diets that promise you will lose a lot of weight quickly and plans which do not provide you with a balanced diet. Any diet drugs should be avoided at all costs. Remember to get advice only from trained nutritionists or your doctor and go for long-term healthy solutions rather than quick fixes.
