Try Nutrisystem's Summer Sales Event that features discounted prices on ALL 28-Day programs!

Retail weight-loss centers were once the cornerstone of Nutrisystem, but now direct-to-consumer meal delivery coupled with online support is what Nutrisystem offers.

As with all meal delivery programs, the principle is that you lose weight because your meals have been designed by nutritionists to reduce your caloric intake. Portion sizes are controlled for you, so you don’t have to count points or measure ingredients. Each meal is balanced, healthy, and satisfying.

Nutrisystem meals concentrate of providing “good carbs,” protein, and fiber, in keeping with the principles ofa low Glycemic Index diet. The food from Nutrisystem is also low in sodium, low in fat, and free of trans fats.

You are expected to supplement the meals provided with your own fresh grocery items – including fruit, dairy, salads, and vegetables. This way, by the time you’ve reached you target weight, you will have trained yourself to shop better, limit portions for yourself, and make healthier food choices. Learning these lessons is important if you hope to maintain your weight-loss without having to order meals for life.

Key to this is the Nutrisystem “Mindset Makeover™ 13-Week Interactive Strategy Tool.”

The online support tools are also critical in helping your use your time on Nutrisystem as a training period for a healthier future.  This online guide teaches you the skills you need to keep your weight under control. Expert advice, video testimonials, tutorials, quizzes, polls and diet tips are features of the ““Mindset Makeover™.”

Also available online to registered users are:

  • A weight and measurement log
  • Aprogress tracker
  • A food diary
  • An exercise log.

Registration is free.

All in all: Meal delivery takes the guess-work out of dieting. All you have to do is order, and food based on a low Glycemic Index Diet is delivered to your door. Adding fruits, vegetables, and dairy yourself engages you in the process so it’s not entirely “hands free” – which is a good thing.

Feel Fuller Longer

Having a hard time filling full? Try eating some beans!. They work to curb your between-meal appetite and give you fiber and protein. In fact, one-half cup of pinto beans or kidney beans has around 8 grams fiber and 7 grams of protein, all for about 110 calories.

Oil Substitutes

Most oils have 120 calories per tablespoon. Reduce those calories by using low-salt chicken broth when cooking food in a pan and replace 1/2 the the oil required when baking with applesauce!
