eDiets Glycemic Impact Diet
Similar to the “South Beach Diet,” “The Zone,” “Sugar Busters,” and other weight-loss approaches that emphasize limiting carbohydrates, the Glycemic Impact Diet focuses on how your digestive system breaks down various foods into glucose. Glucose is the body's source of energy, but if it is not burned through activity it is stored as fat. Extreme shifts in your body’s glucose level also effects concentration, appetite, and insulin production – so it is a major concern to diabetics.
Foods that are digested quickly are considered to have a high Glycemic Index (G.I.), and can result in “sugar highs” followed by “crashes.” Foods that are digested more slowly have a lower G.I. and keep promote body chemistry equilibrium.
Advantages of the Glycemic Index Diet:
- No need to count calories or points;
- Avoid hunger pangs that lead to “cheating” or bingeing;
- Lower risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
Following the Glycemic Index Diet through eDiets allows you to enjoy low-Glycemic impact foods, unrefined complex carbohydrates with lean protein and healthy fats at every meal and snack. Simple sugars are limited, while fiber intake is increased to help stabilize your blood sugars and keep your appetite in check.
Best of all, you’ll have access to eDiets’ extensive online support community – including over 80 community boards, private groups, as well as expert support from certified professionals. Glycemic Index Diet Review
I have some chronic health issues and have been a on and off dieter. When I found the eDiets' Glycemic Diet, it was more of a lifestyle change than just another diet.
I didn't want to have to go visit centers or see a counselor etc., so eDiets website was perfect for me. I signed up for the pland I was able to learn everything I needed to start the GI Diet. Joining several of the website communities was one of the things that helped me learn how to eat, what worked for other people on my same diet and different tips for staying on the diet.
The meal plans for the GI diet were awesome - I didn't have to think about how to cook to make the diet work. And I found a lot of great recipes on the website so help vary the meals. I eat a lot of the same foods but in different portions and I eat whole grains and get more proteins thanks to the GI diet.
